Stitch Duchess has been very busy this year doing everything but Blogging. I finally organized my studio and fabric closet, which unfortunately is a bit messy again. I purchased my very first new computerized sewing machine. And best of all have spent the winter exploring new products for my shop. This spring I'll have new wearable items, fleece toys and new project patterns. Here are Ronan and Regan. Two lovely garden friends made of fleece, fabric and poly fill with safety eyes and noses.

I have a great passion for a well brewed cup of tea. A steamy hot cup of Oolong tea is my current favorite. I recently began to combine both my passions to create a new line of tea themed products for my shop. To introduce the line I've created two sets of quilted fabric coasters. Each set of four coasters has a super cute tea applique on them. The second set of coasters in the line are tea time coasters designed to hold a tea bag with a touch of zakka flavor.
I made this great little bag using a tutorial I found at a wonderful coco stitch blog. I substituted the third panel with a floral print to add a little spice. If you are looking for a great little lunch bag or a small bag to keep in your in larger totes this is the one to sew. coco's steps are easy to follow and the seam allowance is large enough to permit the raw edges to be folded under and top stitched. Visit coco-stitch.blogspot.com for more information on the bags.
Wow! How wonderful to hear from so many people. After consulting a number generator the lucky winner of the snack bags is number 92 Hannah who recycles often. Happy Holidays and Thanks for visiting my Blog!
Going Green in 2011I wanted to get a head start on a personal new years resolution to find easy and fun ways to be green and lighten my footprint in my personal life and in my business. To start I’ve decided stop using plastic bags for lunches at work and school. These bags are so much fun to sew that I thought I'd share a set for giveaway day. Very little fabric is required to make a snack bags which means these are a great way to use scraps from larger sewing project. The set of two snack bags pictured is what up for grabs to one lucky winner. To win these bags simply leave a comment here any time before 9pm on December 17, 2010 sharing the ways in which you are green. I will use a random number generator to select the winner and mail your snack bags on Monday December 20th. I do ship internationally. Details: Both bags are made from African cotton and feature dark blue teardrop shapes on a yellow background. Each bag closes with Velcro and is lined with rip-stop nylon and has a gusseted bottom so they stand up on their own. Each bag is 4 inches tall and 6.5 inches wide. As the end of the year draws to a close I've realized that my storage space in almost full and i've got to make room for new projects in 2011. A while ago i discovered fabric covered buttons. while I've never used them for clothing I have used them to make number of fun gifts. Button Earrings, button badges and button magnets. These items are great for Co-workers and friends who live far away as they are small and easy to ship. Best of all they utilize fabric scraps so nothing in your craft space goes to waste. I have just started to make my button accessories and sell them in my shop.
In one day I've obtained my office City of Seattle Business License, applied for my state Master business license and soon my retail license. So in short I'm a real bunny now, just like the velveteen rabbit.
With my real business status comes a new direction, becoming a profitable business. To help achieve that goal I joined the Etsy Holiday Boot Camp, I'm developing new products for the Holidays, expanding my ninja line, revising my product prices and introducing new cross-stitch patterns and kits. Back in August I attended the Conference of Creative Entrepreneurs in Seattle (CCE). The weekend was packed full of workshops, inspiring presentations and lots of opportunity for discussion and networking. I met wonderful artists and learned a great deal about running a creative business and staying inspired.
One of those artists Blogged about her experience at the conference here www.waxypin.typepad.com. |
